About Brittany

Brittany Eide

I used to have a story that I was born fortunate enough to know my career trajectory at a young age. I now know that although there are some factors such as my mom being in the field that lent themselves to my decision, early childhood experiences sealed the deal.

I believe that we have the ability to turn what once wounded or traumatized us in to opportunity and life purpose. I see now that, that is exactly what I did but I would be remiss if I did not admit that it did not feel that way for decades. And there are times still that I see I have more work to do to fully integrate all the lessons.

I had a lot of support growing up with a roof over my head, food in my belly, and many loving people who secured bonds with, and supported me, early on. Simultaneously, I had struggles including a fairly absent dad, financial stressors, physical ailments, and a lot of loneliness and stress raised as an only child.

I have always felt empathetic and sensitive and I experience a draw to knowing and connecting with people. Growing up, I did not have many pretenses and was pretty open and vulnerable. In relationship, this sometimes worked out and other times did not. There were several occasions where I experienced a lot of heartache.

My natural affinity for people, paired with the early childhood experiences drew me to a path of helping people.

Background & Experience

I became a counselor so that I could fulfill a calling. I started in the field back in 1998 when I began my degree in psychology. Since then, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse group of individuals, dealing with all sorts of matters.

I have worked with people experiencing trauma, transition, and relational issues, youth in the juvenile system, incarcerated women and mothers, adults with disabilities, children with autism, men who have sexually offended, individuals needing psychiatric assistance, families enduring domestic violence, and as a school counselor.

I currently wear a few different hats so that I am able to serve people in all the ways I feel most drawn and capable. In my practice I do therapy, and life and relationship coaching.

My Approach

I am confident that my experience, combined with my passion for helping people makes it so that I am well-equipped to assist youth and adults in healing or making change. I think it is important to come alongside a person who is struggling; partnering with the individual for a solution. I believe we both learn something from each other and that we each have an opportunity to grow. This makes our relationship mutually beneficial and I have much gratitude for the opportunity to work in a field that allows for this type of connection.

Counseling is most effective when trust is built and the therapist and client are able to get curious about the root of the issue at hand. I am interested in letting the client lead. My role is to help the client clear and digest the blocks in the way of accessing their true self. We will establish goals together and get creative about allowing them to come to fruition.

My approach is warm, attentive, curious, and sincere. I am invested in building a bridge quickly so as to foster connection and support the process. It is my intention to be real, vulnerable, and relatable. I am much more interested in connection than formality. I want people to feel comfortable and safe to explore anything and everything knowing that we are all human and doing the best we can.

I am eclectic in my approach with adults and pull primarily from client centered theories of practice and interpersonal psychotherapy approaches of practice. I also have extensive training through Jayson Gaddis and The Relationship School in how we do relationship with the individuals in our lives.
